Mr. Edward "Ed" Rushing, Jr.

Sunrise: July 5, 1959 - Sunset: October 6, 2025

Edward "Ed" Rushing , Jr., affectionately known as "Pete," was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the only son among five children of his parents the late Edward Rushing, Sr. and Flora Lee Rushing.

From an early age, Ed professed his faith in Christ and was baptized. He received his education through the Chicago Public School System and proudly served in the unites States Army, where he developed a lifelong commitment to faith and discipline and service.

After his military service, Ed built a respected career in food services and later became a successful entrepreneur, establishing his own maintenance business. Known for his integrity, work ethic, and dedication, he made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Ed's love for cooking brough people together and his famous homemade egg rolls were legendary among family and friends. He cherished preparing meals and hosting gatherings, and creating a welcoming environment for all

A faithful member of The Light of Joy Church, Ed served as Deacon, Head Chef in the Kitchen Ministry, and in the Security Ministry. He was also recognized as a Man of Valor, offering his gifts with joy and devotion, Beyond the church, Ed was a respected community leader and appointed with the prestigious title of Grand Master of the most Worshipful James Ferguson Grand Lodge.

On March 5, 2004, Ed Married the lat Ronda Perl Griffin Rushing, and together they shared a loving blended family of seven children On October 6, 2025, Ed peacefully transitioned from this earthly dwelling, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love and service. His caring spirit giving hear and smile will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Ed is survived by his sisters, Elaine (DeWitt) Williams and Mary Ann Moore; five children Edward, Lashon, Sheres Davis (Brian), Shamara and Eric; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins extended family, church members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Flora Lee Rushing; sisters Vivian and Sylvia; and his devoted wife, Rhonda Pearl Griffin Rushing.
